Why is the Holocaust made into such a big deal when other, modern genocides are occurring?

There are three reasons for this. First, the holocaust was committed by a nation at war with the US and ideologically completely with odds with current values. So of course the powers that be have emphasized the holocaust as much as possible, to make their old archenemy look as bad as possible. Second, the nazis, unlike others who committed mass atrocities, completely lost. That meant that ALL of their dirty work got shown in public, whereas the soviets and a host of others, could conceal much of theirs. Third, the principal target of the holocaust, the jews, not only survived but have tremendous political and economic power today. Naturally they, to an even greater degree than western governments, want to bombard the world with constant holocaust reminders. The idea is not only to slam the nazis forever, but to preserve and enhance their own power. "The whole shoah (holocaust) business is a racket" one jew admitted. Holocaust talk is partly intended to maximize sympathy for the jews and therefore make people reluctant to criticize them. That way, the jews or israelis can get away with almost anything--from looting our treasury to killing Palestinians.
